As an individual, I fail to understand why the name of Mr M.F. Hussein was included as part of the poll for Bharatratna.
There has been a number of cases registered against him. He takes every opportunity to insult the Hindu deities; even the Bharat Mata is not spared. In the name of liberal outlook, the secularists expect Hindus to praise the paintings and hail Mr Hussein. If he is so liberal and open-minded, then why does his brush fail to depict similar fantasies concerning deities/Gods of his own faith?
The Bharatratnas are the role models for the masses, they are the people whom the common man tries to emulate and they are the best in their field. In case of Mr Hussein, his only qualification for inclusion into the list seems to be the controversy surrounding him, for that would provide more publicity to the poll organized by NDTV.
As such in today's media where anything against Hindus is considered secular and anything for Hindus is communal such incidences are bound to happen.
